Rust Belt Riders is a Northeastern Ohio member-based residential and commercial compost hauler, processor and compost product producer. This passionate and expert group launched Betterbin in January 2021 and currently has over 800 member-users!
Lebanon, NH
Drop-off community recycling & composting
Lebanon needed a way to make education accessible to a variety of suburban and rural residents who bring their materials to the Lebanon Recycling Center. They launched Betterbin in May of 2021 along with the launch of their drop-off food scrap program.
Wausau, WI
Residential Recycling
A pre-Betterbin waste audit showed 85% of Wausau recycle bins had some type of contamination. Wausau implemented Betterbin in March 2021 and in just four months has over 300 users that have searched for 3,000 products!

Organicycle is a Grand Rapids, MI-area residential and commercial compost hauler and processor. Their team needed an education solution to communicate with residential pick-up members AND employees on large corporate campuses – Betterbin does both!
UW-Stevens Point (WI)
Campus Recycling
The UWSP Office of Sustainability, Facilities Services and Dining Services all came together to launch Betterbin in February 2020. COVID19 halted the launch, but not before 250 students downloaded the app, showing their commitment to recycling right on campus.
Edgewood College (WI)
Campus Recycling
Students and staff are fighting back against contamination fees with Betterbin. We partnered with students from a social entrepreneurship course to implement Betterbin on campus in February 2020.
Madison, WI
Residential Composting
Madison launched Betterbin during their Summer 2019 trial curbside food scrap pick-up program. In 2020, residents will be able to drop-off food scraps at three locations across the city.
Weston, WI
Residential Recycling
An amazing group of stakeholders from the Village of Weston, Marathon County Solid Waste Dept., Portage County Solid Waste Dept. and Advanced Disposal championed the very first beta launch of Betterbin (then ERbin) in March 2019.
